Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 7, 2026 · Applies to Addiyon Keyboard (com.addiyon.keyboard)

Overview

Addiyon Keyboard is an Android input method for typing Amharic in the Ge'ez / Fidel script. This policy is provided by Dawit Ameneshewa Alemu, the developer of Addiyon Keyboard. We built the app to respect your privacy: Addiyon Keyboard does not collect any data. Everything the keyboard does, including transliteration, autocomplete and dictionary lookups, runs entirely on your device.

On-device processing

Transliteration, autocomplete and dictionary lookups all run locally on your device. The words and text you type are not transmitted, sold, or shared. The app does not send your keystrokes or typed content to any server. Your dictionaries are bundled with the app and stored on the device.

No data collection

We do not collect any data. Addiyon Keyboard has no analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry of any kind. The words you type, the messages you compose, and how you use the keyboard are not collected by us.

No selling of data

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or ad targeting. There are no third-party ad SDKs that track you across apps.

Permissions

As a keyboard (input method), the app runs within Android's secure IME framework. In plain language:

  • Input method service: required for the keyboard to appear and send characters to the app you're typing in. Android sandboxes this and does not give us access to other apps' data.
  • Vibrate: optional haptic feedback on key presses.

Voice typing is handled by a separate system app, described in the next section.

Voice typing

Voice typing uses Android's SpeechRecognizer API, part of the operating system. When you tap the microphone, your device's speech-recognition service captures and processes the audio, not Addiyon Keyboard.

Children

Addiyon Keyboard is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention

On-device data (settings, learned suggestions) remains on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app. Because we collect no data, there is nothing stored on any server for us to retain. On-device data is protected by Android's app sandbox, which keeps it isolated from other apps.

Your rights

Because we don't collect data that identifies you, there is nothing personal tied to you for us to export or delete. You can clear on-device data at any time by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
